If the command of the World Test Championship remains near England for 2029-31 season, then India will have to wait for about eight years to host the WTC final. According to the report, in the ICC’s annual conference to be held in Singapore in July 2025, it can be announced that England will host the WTC final for the next three times.
BCCI did not get a chance
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has been trying continuously for the last six years to get the WTC final hosting. But even after the ever increasing influence in BCCI’s world cricket, hosting could not be found. At the same time, former BCCI secretary Jai Shah is currently the chairperson of the ICC, despite this, this opportunity seems to be coming out of India’s hand.
Power of WTC final in England’s hand
The first final of the World Test Championship was played in the year 2021, which took place between India and New Zealand in Southampton, England. The second WTC final was played between India and Australia in the Oval Ground in London in 2023. At the same time, the third final is being played between Australia and South Africa at Lord’s.
