The dates for Bihar Assembly elections have been announced, but till now neither the ruling alliance (NDA) nor the opposition alliance (INDIA) has finalized anything regarding seat sharing. On one hand, Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD is not ready to give more than 55 seats to Congress in the India alliance, while on the other hand, Chirag Paswan in NDA is not happy with the number of seats his party has got.
Where is the disagreement arising in seat sharing of INDIA alliance?
Talking about India alliance, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) wants to give 50 to 55 seats to Congress in seat sharing. Tejashwi Yadav is not ready for more seats than this. Apart from this, like last time, the Left is ready to contest elections on about 25 seats. On behalf of RJD, it was explained to the left parties that compared to the last elections, whether Congress or RJD, both will contest on fewer seats. In such a situation, the left seat is not being reduced.
Here, the biggest problem is with Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) Chief Mukesh Sahni. Mukesh Sahni is adamant on his demand of 35 to 40 seats, whereas RJD is not ready to give more than 20 seats to Mukesh Sahni under any circumstances.
Regarding seat sharing, CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya has said that talks are still going on. Everything will be decided within one to two days. He said that the bigger question than seat sharing is about the future of Bihar. The game that has been played in the name of SIR also needs to be seen. The people of Bihar are also watching the attacks that are taking place on Dalits and tribals across the country.
Where is the problem in NDA’s seat sharing?
According to information received from sources, BJP and JDU believe that Chirag Paswan’s demand is not justified under any circumstances, because giving 36 seats means that BJP and JDU will contest elections on less than 100 seats each. If Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) accepts the demand of 36 to 40 seats as an alliance, then the demands of Jitan Ram Manjhi and Upendra Kushwaha will also have to be accepted.
