Bihar Election 2025: Final round of talks regarding seat sharing in Grand Alliance, this formula will be approved soon

Before the assembly elections in Bihar, talks regarding seat sharing between the constituent parties of the Grand Alliance have reached their final stage. According to sources, now only the formula remains to be agreed upon. It is believed that one of the two proposed formulas may be approved soon.

First formula: RJD gets the biggest share

According to the first formula, the largest party of the grand alliance, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), is likely to get 138 seats. Congress can be given 52 seats in this formula, while the Left parties (CPI-ML, CPI, CPM) can be given a total of 35 seats. There is a proposal to give 15 seats to Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), and 2 seats to Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

According to sources, there are preparations to include IP Gupta’s India Inclusive Party in the alliance, which may get 1 seat.

Second formula: More share for smaller parties

The second proposal is said to be a little balanced. In this, RJD will be given 130 seats, i.e. 8 seats less than the first formula. Congress will get 55 seats, Left parties will get the same 35 seats, but VIP seats can be increased to 20. JMM is sure to get 2 seats and India Inclusive Party is sure to get 1 seat.

Tug of war between RJD and Congress

According to the information, RJD wants that the seat sharing formula of 2015 should be made the basis, whereas Congress is demanding to increase the seats citing the expansion of its organization and last time’s victory. Congress leaders argue that the party’s vote share has improved compared to the last election and it is now claiming more than 50 seats.

The role of small parties is important

Allies like VIP and JMM are also trying to increase their share of seats. VIP chief Mukesh Sahni had recently said that we want a respectable seat. The Left parties have also said that they will give priority to ideology more than seats, but they will not go below at least 35 seats.

Announcement may be made soon

Grand alliance sources say that almost a consensus has been reached on seat sharing, and now only the formal announcement is left. There is a possibility that the seats will be announced soon in an official press conference. At the same time, BJP-JDU alliance is also busy finalizing the list of its candidates.
