The political importance and social diversity of the Triveniganj Assembly makes it an important assembly seat in Bihar. The Triveniganj assembly seat under Supaul district is reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), which is known for its socio-economic and political identity.
This seat was held for the first time in 1957
The Triveniganj assembly seat was held for the first time in 1957. During that time this seat was reserved for Scheduled Castes. This seat was placed in the general category from 1962 to 2009, but since 2010 it was declared reserved again. This seat was occupied by the Congress from 1957 to 1962, but over time the Joint Socialist Party, Janata Party and Janata Dal also won the victory here.
In 2000, this seat was occupied by RJD, while Lok Janshakti Party won in the 2005 elections. JDU’s account opened here for the first time in the 2009 by -election, since then this seat is with JDU. In 2010, Amla Devi of JDU and Veena Bharti won in 2015-2020. In the 2020 assembly elections, Veena Bharti defeated Santosh Kumar of RJD by 3,031 votes. The party also got the benefit of his victory in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 and got a big lead here.

This area struggles with flood problem
If we look at the economic and social outlook of Triveniganj assembly seat, this area is situated on the banks of the Kosi River and every year the region has to face flood problems. The economy here is mainly based on paddy, maize and jute cultivation. The Kosi river is the basis of farming, but this is also the main reason for the flood.
Due to limited employment opportunities and lack of agro -based industries, migration of youth is a major problem. Basic facilities like road, education, and health are also inadequate. Despite the challenges of the region, this seat holds a special place in Bihar politics.
