Bihar Election Result 2025: In the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, NDA has achieved a historic victory with 202 seats. Whereas the grand alliance was limited to only 35 seats. After the formation of this new government, a question is arising in the minds of the people that what facilities do the MLAs start getting after winning. So let us know what is the answer to this question.

Salary structure after swearing in

Every state decides the salaries of its MLAs through its assembly. For this reason this amount varies across India. If we talk about Bihar, an MLA gets a basic monthly salary of around ₹ 50,000. Whereas in Uttar Pradesh the basic salary is ₹ 35,000 and in Telangana it is around ₹ 20,000. When allowances are added to this basic salary, the actual income of MLAs becomes much higher.

Constituency allowance and its importance

Constituency allowance is also given to MLAs. In many states this is more than their basic salary. This allowance is given to meet the expenses of managing public works, meeting citizens, traveling in the constituency and maintaining the local office.

Official residence and residential privileges

After the MLA takes oath, he is given a government accommodation. This is usually an MLA’s residence, flat or bungalow near the state assembly or secretariat. If they do not want to use government accommodation, they can be given housing allowance instead. These residences are completely maintained by the government due to which the financial burden on the elected representative is reduced.

daily and traveling allowances

MLAs are given daily allowances for attending assembly sessions, committee meetings and official programs. Apart from all this he also gets generous traveling allowances. These often include free rail travel across India which is sometimes also given to some family members.

Medical and office benefits

MLAs and their families are entitled to free treatment in government hospitals and also empaneled private hospitals in many states. MLAs are given allowances for office expenses, telephone bills, salaries of employees and even gym or club facilities in the assembly premises.

Pension after completion of tenure

One of the biggest benefits is lifetime pension. An MLA becomes eligible for pension even after completing only one full term. States determine their own pension amount and the pension increases if the MLA has served multiple terms.

When do benefits start?

All these benefits do not start immediately after the election results are declared. Legally, these facilities are started only after the swearing-in ceremony held inside the assembly. As soon as the swearing-in ceremony is complete, an elected MLA officially starts receiving salary, allowances, accommodation and all related benefits.
