The results of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 have come and the fate of 2,600 candidates has been decided. In this election, while on one side there were candidates in the fray who owned properties worth crores of rupees, on the other side there were candidates who had properties not worth crores or lakhs, but only 1-2 thousand or 5-6 thousand rupees.
Among the rich and poor candidates, one candidate made a lot of headlines regarding his wealth and that is Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Sunil Kumar Choudhary. He was contesting from Peerpainti seat, a reserved seat in Bhagalpur district, and had declared in his election affidavit that he had zero assets.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Murari Paswan has won the election from Pirpainti seat. Sunil Kumar Chaudhary has got only 1586 votes. Sunil Kumar Chaudhary is 40 years old and he told in his election affidavit that he has studied only till 12th class and he does not have any job. According to the affidavit, he neither has any income nor does he have any liabilities. His affidavit was almost blank. Only the columns of his name, age and education were filled in it. He had declared zero net worth in this.
While candidates spent crores of rupees in Bihar elections, Sunil Kunar Chaudhary contested the elections with whatever support he got at the grassroots level. There is no criminal case against him. Apart from Sunil Kumar Chaudhary, there are ten more poor candidates, who have total assets of Rs 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 or Rs 6000.
In this election, NDA performed brilliantly and won 202 seats and the Grand Alliance won 35 seats. BJP has emerged as the largest party in this election.
