Lakshmeshwar Rai, who was the MLA from Laukha seat of Madhubani district of Bihar, gave a big blow to Nitish Kumar on Thursday (9 October). Lakshmeshwar Rai resigned from the membership of Janata Dal United (JDU) and joined Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
Lakshmeshwar Rai, who was a minister in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s government, blamed the ‘arbitrariness’ of party’s acting national president Sanjay Jha for his resignation. He said, “Now Sanjay Jha is running everything in the party, not Nitish Kumar. The Chief Minister has been sidelined and the workers are not heard.”
Did Chirag lose the 2020 elections because of Paswan?
In the Bihar Assembly elections 2020, Lakshmeshwar Rai was defeated by RJD candidate Bharat Bhushan Mandal in Laukaha by only 1,007 votes. In that election, votes were lost due to Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), which was considered the main reason for Rai’s defeat.
Will the equations of Madhubani change?
According to political experts, Lakshmeshwar Rai’s joining RJD can have a big impact on the equations of Madhubani district. The special thing is that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has visited Laukha area twice in the last two months, due to which this seat is being considered as his priority.
Had already given indications of joining RJD
According to sources, former minister Lakshmeshwar Rai had recently hinted during a program that if he did not get the ticket from Laukaha, he would switch to RJD and finally he did so.
