Jyoti Manjhi, the NDA candidate from Barachatti assembly seat in Gayaji district and the current HAM MLA from here, has been attacked. This incident happened when she had gone out for a public relations campaign in her constituency on Wednesday (November 05, 2025). Near Sulebatta turn two youths riding a bike threw stones at him. Due to this, candidate Jyoti Manjhi suffered a head injury.
After the incident, Jyoti Manjhi sat in the vehicle crying and reached the local hospital. He received first aid at Barachatti Community Health Centre. After this he was referred to the medical college. Jyoti Manjhi is the supporter of Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi. This is the second time he is contesting elections from Hum Party.
Sherghati SDPO-2 Ajay Prasad said that stones were thrown by anti-social elements. Police is investigating at all points. Appropriate action will be taken by registering an FIR. A suspicious bike has been seized and two people have been detained. Inquiry is being done.
On the other hand, injured Jyoti Manjhi told that she was returning after campaigning in Bhalua Panchayat. In this sequence, 5 to 6 people riding bikes started raising slogans of Lalu Yadav Zindabad. After this a big stone was thrown from the overbridge. Barachatti has been referred to ANMMCH where X-ray has been done.
Different incidents have happened twice before
Even before this, our candidate’s campaign vehicle has been attacked. The poster on the campaign vehicle was torn by unknown youth in Kharanti village of Magadh University police station area of Barachatti assembly constituency. The second incident took place during a public relations campaign in Dema village of Mohanpur police station area. Slogans of Jyoti Manjhi Murdabad and RJD Zindabad were raised by unidentified bike riding youths who entered the crowd.
Anil Kumar was attacked a few days ago
Apart from Jyoti Manjhi, MLA from Tikari assembly constituency of Gayaji and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) candidate Anil Kumar was recently stoned during a public relations campaign. The incident took place in Dighora village. Angry villagers attacked the MLA’s convoy with bricks and stones. The glasses of many vehicles were broken. MLA Anil Kumar was injured in his head and hand. Some supporters were also injured. 9 people were detained in this case.
