NDA candidates have won five Rajya Sabha seats of Bihar. After the voting held on Monday (March 16, 2026), the results were announced late in the evening. Meanwhile, the grand alliance has suffered a severe blow. RJD had made AD Singh its candidate.
After the counting was completed, Tejashwi Yadav said that RJD candidate has got 37 votes. Whereas BJP’s Shivesh Ram has got 30 votes. We want the counting process to be fair. We are winning this election. Since the beginning, BJP has had a tendency to win elections by using dishonesty, machines and money mechanisms.
Tejashwi Yadav said that the counting process is video recorded, the ruling party has done the recounting which means that BJP has lost the election. RJD has got 37 votes and NDA has got 30 votes. This clearly means that we have won the elections.

A total of six candidates were in the fray for five seats.
Let us tell you that there were a total of six candidates in the fray for five seats in Bihar. Nitish Kumar, Ramnath Thakur from JDU, Nitin Naveen, Shivesh Ram from BJP and Upendra Kushwaha from RLM had filed their nominations. AD Singh was fielded from RJD.
With the results it also became clear that now all these NDA candidates will go to Rajya Sabha. On the other hand, with Nitish Kumar going to Rajya Sabha, Bihar will also get a new Chief Minister. Now people’s eyes will be on who will be made the next Chief Minister.
Even before the results of Rajya Sabha elections, NDA was claiming that it would win all five seats. However, the RJD candidate got a shock because four MLAs of the Grand Alliance did not vote. These include three Congress MLAs and one RJD MLA Faisal Rehman.
