Bihar: Will Pawan Singh go to Rajya Sabha? 5th seat will become the biggest political battlefield, what is the mood of BJP?

Rajya Sabha seats are becoming vacant in Bihar. On five seats, the tenure of sitting MPs Premchand Gupta and AD Singh of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Harivansh and Ramnath Thakur of Janata Dal United (JDU) and Upendra Kushwaha of Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) are completing. Elections will be held on 16 March. Of the five vacant seats, RJD and JDU have two seats each and Rashtriya Lok Morcha has one seat.

BJP may gain two seats and RJD may lose two seats. For one seat in Rajya Sabha, votes of 41 MLAs are required. Accordingly, NDA will win four seats comfortably. After winning four seats, NDA will have votes left for 38 MLAs. To win the fifth seat, NDA will need three MLAs. If all the 41 MLAs of the opposition come together and decide their candidate and vote for him, then the opposition can get one seat. If NDA and opposition also field candidates on the 5th seat, there will be scope for horse-trading of MLAs.

In 2025, NDA achieved majority by winning 202 seats.

According to the information, there are a total of 243 MLAs in Bihar Assembly. For 5 seats, a candidate needs about 41 votes to win. In the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the NDA alliance won an overwhelming majority by winning 202 out of 243 seats. BJP got 89 seats, while JDU won 85 seats. Apart from this, LJP got 19 seats, HAM got 5 and RLM got 4 seats. In the grand alliance, RJD got 25 seats and Congress got 6 seats. Apart from this, CPI (ML) got 2 seats, CPI (M) got 1 seat and IIP got 1 seat.

In this way, the Grand Alliance has only 35 MLAs. Apart from this, 5 MLAs of AIMIM and 1 MLA of BSP are included in other parties. This time through Rajya Sabha elections, BJP-JDU is working on a mix of caste balance, regional representation and high-profile faces. BJP can send Bhojpuri actor and singer Pawan Singh to Rajya Sabha. According to sources, BJP is also brainstorming on the name of some big Brahmin and Rajput leader.

Ramnath Thakur is sure to go to Rajya Sabha once again

It is considered certain that Ramnath Thakur will once again enter Rajya Sabha from JDU quota. At the same time, there is doubt in JDU regarding Harivansh Narayan Singh. Generally it is seen that Nitish Kumar sends any leader to Rajya Sabha only twice. According to sources, JDU National General Secretary Manish Verma comes from Kurmi caste.

Rajya Sabha is also considering sending him or any minority. If BJP gives its candidates on two seats, then NDA can field Upendra Kushwaha on the fifth seat.

RJD may send Premchand Gupta to Rajya Sabha again

Talking about the opposition, AIMIM has demanded from the opposition parties to send Bihar President and MLA Akhtarul Iman to Rajya Sabha. Party’s national spokesperson Adil Hasan has made this demand and sought support from the opposition. RJD can again send Rajya Sabha member Premchand Gupta to Rajya Sabha. For this, support can be sought from opposition parties.

Talking to ABP News, MIM Bihar President and MLA Akhtarul Iman said that we will field candidates in the Rajya Sabha elections in Bihar. Opposition parties should cooperate with us. If you want to stop communal forces then support us. We are always here to support you. We will give our candidate. We do not have a single member in Rajya Sabha.

Let us tell you that Akhtarul’s statement is a blow to the Grand Alliance parties especially RJD because RJD is trying to field its candidate and may seek support from Owaisi.

JDU chief spokesperson Legislative Councilor Neeraj Kumar said that it is an internal matter of the opposition whether it will give a candidate or not, but the situation of RJD has become so bad that it cannot even give its candidate. RJD should answer whether it will support MIM or not. The public made RJD sit at home. NDA will win all five seats. The top leadership of NDA will decide together who will be the candidates of NDA.

Who will be the candidate and from which party? The opposition parties will decide this together. We will talk to all opposition parties including Left party, AIMIM, BSP, Congress. Must have played also. Many NDA MLAs will also do cross voting.

BJP spokesperson Kuntal Krishna said that NDA will win all five seats. Candidates will give NDA on all five seats. The decision on which candidates will be from which party will be taken soon.
