An incident that puts humanity to shame has come to light from Nawada district of Bihar. On Thursday (January 8), a bloody conflict took place between two Gotiya families due to superstition in Sati Sthan locality of Rajauli police station area. In this fight, 35 year old woman Kiran Devi was brutally beaten to death. The deceased was the mother of four small children.

Allegation of witchcraft became the cause of death. Family members allege that for the last three-four days, Kiran Devi was being falsely accused of witchcraft by the neighboring Gotiya family. On Thursday, this dispute took a violent turn and the other side launched a deadly attack on the family of Sudhir Kumar Chaudhary. Kiran Devi’s husband Sudhir Kumar and four other family members were seriously injured in this attack.

Died as soon as he reached the hospital

All the injured were immediately admitted to Sub-Divisional Hospital Rajauli. Kiran Devi’s condition deteriorated during first aid and she died. Doctor Ilika Bharti, on duty, said that there were marks of serious injuries on the body, which became the main cause of death. At the same time, there is news of two people from the other party being injured, who are undergoing treatment in a private clinic.

Three accused in custody: As soon as information about the incident was received, Rajauli police station incharge cum inspector Ranjit Kumar reached the spot with his team. He said that the police took immediate action and took three accused into custody. FSL (FSL) The team has collected scientific evidence from the spot.

The police station incharge said, “Prima facie the matter seems to be an old dispute between two Gotiya families. However, the family members have alleged witchcraft, which is being investigated in depth. The body has been handed over to the family members after post-mortem.”

Kiran Devi’s death has taken away the shadow of mother forever from the heads of her two sons and two daughters. This incident tells the bitter reality of ignorance and superstition prevalent in the society even in the era of education. Local people believe that weak people, especially women, are often targeted by giving the color of ‘witch’ or ‘sorcery’ to personal rivalry or property dispute.
