BJP Allies NPP Leader Challenges Waqf Amendment Law in Supreme Court CJI Sanjiv Khanna to Hear on 16 April Ann

In Manipur, BJP’s coalition partner party National People’s Party (NPP) MLA Sheikh Nurul Hasan has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the Waqf Amendment Act. This is not the first time that the leader of a BJP ally party has filed a petition in protest against the Waqf law. Earlier, JDU leader Parvez Siddiqui has also filed a petition in the Supreme Court.

Nurul Hasan’s petition has opposed the pambadi on the land of the Scheduled Tribes. It has been said in the petition that if a person of Scheduled Tribes adopts Islam, then it is wrong to stop him from witnessing his property. The petitioner has also denied maintaining the provisions of succession law in the assets that have been vaqf. This petition has also been opposed to giving the right to Waqf to a person who has become a Muslim for at least 5 years.

So far more than 20 petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court against the Waqf Amendment Act. If some Muslim organizations and people are released, most of these petitions belong to the leaders of opposition parties. Now the leaders of BJP’s ally 2 parties have also reached the Supreme Court against the law. On April 16, the 3 judges headed by Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna will hear the bench case.
