Senior Maharashtra Congress leader Nana Patole supported the statement of Congress leader from Telangana Bomma Mahesh, in which he accused BJP that the party does politics on the basis of caste and religion. Nana Patole asked why BJP remembers Lord Shri Ram during elections?
Speaking to IANS in Nagpur, Congress leader Nana Patole said that what the Congress leader from Telangana has said for BJP is being interpreted differently. I have also read the same. Just as BJP takes the name of Lord Shri Ram during elections, religion and politics are different. In Maharashtra, where we live, there is a very strong tradition of saints. BJP remembers Shri Ram only during elections. Therefore, our Congress MLAs from Telangana told that it is wrong to take the name of God only during elections.
‘It is wrong to use Shri Ram’s name in politics’
Instead of using religion to get votes, focus should be on what the government did. How has he ruled the country, what progress or loss has occurred and how the country is being run. The election process takes place on the basis of the Constitution. I think the MLA who said this means that it is not right to take the name of Shri Ram and make it an election issue at the time of elections. BJP should think on this issue. I am also a Hindu, my idol is Lord Shri Ram, but it is not appropriate to use him in politics.
‘BJP does not like Mahatma Gandhi’- Nana Patole
Referring to Mahatma Gandhi, the Congress leader said that BJP wants to weaken the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. Congress had named a scheme after Mahatma Gandhi and BJP wants to stop it. The poisonous seeds he is sowing in democracy are being spread by his followers or leftist thinking people.
Nana Patole further said that Mahatma Gandhi did not belong to Congress but to the entire country. BJP does not like this because they do not have any such Mahatma. The country may be in danger due to the politics being done by destroying the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi. This is the mentality of BJP.
‘BJP changes with need’- Nana Patole
The Congress leader said that BJP will do whatever it takes to get power. They change things again and again as per their convenience and this is the nature of BJP.
Different statements of BJP on promoting Hindi
On the language controversy in Mumbai, he said that in Mumbai, where Marathi language and culture is very strong, they say that they will not promote Hindi, but will promote Marathi. The Chief Minister also says the same. But at the same time, in their manifesto in Navi Mumbai it has been said that Hindi will be promoted there. There is not much difference between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. BJP’s different statements on the language issue clearly show that they can do anything for power.
