Controversial statement of MLA Babonrao Lonikar
The MLA also said, “Babonrao Lonikar paid salaries to the mothers of those criticizing and also approved pension for their fathers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave your father Rs 6,000 for sowing (PM Kisan Samman Nidhi). Your sisters are taking advantage of ‘Ladki Bahin Scheme’. The clothes, shoes, mobile phones you have, they are all because they are.”
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis response
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, disagreeing with the statement of his MLA, described it as ‘absolutely wrong’. He said, “Even though his comment was for some special people, no one has the right to say such things. Prime Minister Modi says that ‘I am the head servant’. Shiv Sena UBT Legislative Council member and Leader of Opposition in the House, Ambadas Danve targeted the BJP MLA’s comments and termed him as a ‘indigenous version of the British’. He said that it is not right to speak such a language in democracy.
