BJP opened its cards for by-elections in 4 states including Goa, Karnataka, list of candidates released, know on whom it placed its bet.

BJP has declared the names of its candidates for the assembly by-elections to be held in Goa, Nagaland, Karnataka and Tripura. This decision has been taken after the meeting of the Central Election Committee of the party. These by-elections are being held on those seats where sitting MLAs had died. Voting will take place on 9 April 2026 and the results will be declared on 4 May 2026.

Which leader got the chance from which seat?

BJP has decided to give tickets to strong and popular local level faces on these seats. Party sources say that the opinion of the local organization has been given a lot of importance in the selection of candidates. The party has made Ritesh Ravi Nayak its candidate from Ponda seat of Goa. This is seat number 21 and by-election is being held here because the sitting MLA had passed away. Daochier Il Inchen has been given the ticket from Koridang (Scheduled Tribe) seat in Nagaland. This is seat number 28 and here also by-election is being held due to the death of the MLA.

Candidates have been declared for two seats in Karnataka. Shri Veerbhadraiah Charantimath has been made the candidate from Bagalkot seat, which is seat number 24. Srinivas T. Dasakirappa has got the ticket from Davangere South seat. This seat number is 107 and here also by-election is being held after the death of the MLA. Shri Jahar Chakraborty has been made the candidate from Dharmanagar seat of Tripura. This seat number is 56 and elections are being held here due to the death of the MLA.

Decision taken in BJP’s election committee meeting

The Central Election Committee meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party was held on 18 March 2026 in New Delhi, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and other senior leaders were present. The meeting was presided over by the party’s national president JP Nadda. In this meeting, the names of the candidates for the 2026 by-election were finalized.
