In the BJP -ruled state of Haryana, a crisis has arisen in front of millions of middle class and poor families. In Haryana, there is a crisis on the free health services provided to the card holders under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has announced that if the government did not make dues of private hospitals till August 7, then after this date, the treatment of Ayushman card holders will be closed in private hospitals.
What is the reason
Let us know that the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Haryana has proved to be a boon for millions of poor and needy people. Under this scheme, card holders get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh in private and government hospitals. But now this plan is clouded by crisis. The Haryana unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has warned that if the government has not completed the payment of dues of Rs 500 crore to private hospitals by August 7, they will stop serving under this scheme. IMA Haryana Secretary Dr. Kuldeep Mangla says that some payments were issued after our meeting with the government in January but nothing has come since March. 500 crore rupees are still pending how the hospital can continue work without payment.
Patients may increase in trouble
Around 650 private hospitals in Haryana are included in the panels under this scheme, providing health services to more than 5 lakh Ayushman card holders of the state. But due to the problem of outstanding payment, the hospitals are now pulling back from this scheme. Millions of poor patients may face trouble with this decision. Especially those patients who have to treat serious diseases like cancer, heart disease, and kidney problems in private hospitals.
IMA demand
IMA has also demanded that the government should increase the annual budget of Ayushman scheme from 800 crores to Rs 2000 crore, so that such problems can be avoided in future. At the same time, Haryana Health Minister Aarti Rao has intervened in this matter and assured that the government will soon pay the arrears.
