In the results of local body elections in Kerala, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has registered a historic victory in Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation. BJP has hoisted saffron in Thiruvananthapuram, which was the stronghold of Left Democratic Front (LDF) for four decades. This performance of BJP before the assembly elections in Kerala has created a stir in the politics of the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated BJP on this historic victory.
PM Modi expressed gratitude to the people of Kerala
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (December 13, 2025) shared a post on social media platform X and thanked the people of Thiruvananthapuram for their victory in the elections. He said, “I express my gratitude to all the people of the state who voted for BJP and NDA candidates in the local body elections held in Kerala. Kerala is now fed up with the UDF and LDF. The people of the state now consider NDA as the only option which can provide good governance and create a developed Kerala full of opportunities for all.”

PM Modi said in another post, “Thank you Thiruvananthapuram! The mandate given to BJP-NDA in Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation is a historic turning point in the politics of Kerala. People have full faith that only our party can fulfill the development aspirations of the state. Our party will work hard for the development of this vibrant city and improve the ease of living for the people.”

Along with this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “I express my gratitude and congratulations to all the hardworking BJP workers who worked among the public to ensure a spectacular election result in Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation. Today is a day to remember the hard work and struggle of those workers who have been working at the grassroots level in Kerala for many generations, due to which this result has been possible today.” He said that our workers are our strength and we are proud of them.
Left got a big blow in Kerala
The victory of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and NDA candidates in the civic elections of Kerala capital Thiruvananthapuram is being considered a big political blow for the Left parties, because the Left has been in control here for more than four decades. Apart from this, it is also a blow for Congress because Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has been elected MP from Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat for four consecutive times.
Of the five municipal corporations in Kerala, four have been won by the Congress-led UDF, while one each has gone to the LDF and NDA. Talking about Municipal Council, UDF has won 54, LDF 28 and NDA has won one. In District Panchayat, LDF has won 7 and UDF has won 7.
