Dates may be announced for civic elections in Maharashtra. According to the information, the State Election Commission will hold a press conference on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 4 pm. Dates can be announced in this press conference. State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare will hold a press conference.
There is a possibility of announcement of elections for local Swaraj institutions (body elections). Municipal and Nagar Panchayat elections are likely to be announced first.
If the election dates are announced today, then the Model Code of Conduct will come into force along with it. If sources are to be believed, these elections will be held in three phases in the state. In the first phase of local body elections, elections will be held for 246 municipalities and 42 nagar panchayats of the state. Amidst the election process to be held in 21 days, the Election Commission can also immediately announce the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections in the second phase. Whereas the announcement of municipal corporation elections is likely to be made in the final phase.

According to the instructions of the Supreme Court, it is mandatory to conduct elections for all local bodies before January 31. 289 Municipal Corporations, 32 Zilla Parishads, 331 Panchayat Samiti and 29 Municipal Corporations of the state will participate in these elections. The eyes of the entire state are fixed on these elections.
NCP-Ajit leader had already announced the dates?
Earlier, senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader in Pune, Dilip Walse Patil, has created a controversy by announcing the possible dates for the long-pending elections of local bodies in Maharashtra. The Ajit Pawar-led NCP is part of the grand alliance government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Valse Patil said that the district council elections are likely to be held on December 15, while the municipal corporation elections can be held on January 15.
He said that the Supreme Court has set January 31, 2026 as the last date for holding the long-pending local body elections. A video of Valse Patil is being circulated on social media, in which he is purportedly heard saying, According to my information, Zilla Parishad elections can be held on December 15 and municipal body elections can be held on January 15. The entire process of local body and municipal body elections will be completed before January 31.
