The Maharashtra government has issued an official notification, in which the final formation of the election wards of the city has been decided. In this notification, Mumbai is divided into a total of 227 election wards, and a councilor will be elected from each ward.
The government has issued this notification under sections 5 and 19 of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888. Along with this, the approval of the State Election Commission is also received. The notification was released after reviewing objections and suggestions received on the draft ward structure published on August 22, 2025.
