Bharatiya Janata Party has announced the name of its new mayor for Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The party has decided to make Ritu Tawde the next Mayor of Mumbai. Ritu Tawde is a senior corporator of BJP and has been active in municipal politics for a long time. His name was already being discussed as a strong contender for the post of Mayor, which has now been confirmed.
Ritu Tawde has won from ward number 132 in the recently held BMC elections. This is his third consecutive victory. Before this, she had reached the corporation for the first time in the year 2012 by winning the election from ward number 127. After this, in 2017 he won from ward number 121 of Ghatkopar. In the 2025 elections, the public once again expressed confidence in him and made him victorious from ward number 132.

If we talk about Ritu Tawde’s education, she has completed her education till 12th. After this he studied B.Com (SYBCom). He N.G. Ritu Tawde got many important responsibilities during her tenure in the Municipal Corporation. She has also been the chairperson of the Education Committee of Mumbai Municipal Corporation. During this period, he worked actively on issues related to municipal schools. Education, children’s facilities and improving the condition of schools have been his priorities.

Ritu Tawde is known as a grassroots leader. She remains directly connected with the people in her area and tries to understand civic problems by visiting them on the spot.
