Both NCPs will contest together in Maharashtra Zilla Parishad elections, Rohit Pawar’s appeal, ‘Ajit Dada’s…’

NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar on Thursday (05 February) appealed to the voters of 12 districts going for Zilla Parishad elections to support NCP by remembering late leader Ajit Pawar and carrying forward his ideology. ​​NCP (SP) and NCP have formed an alliance for the Zilla Parishad elections to be held on 7 February. Both the parties are contesting the elections on the clock symbol of NCP.

‘The true tribute is to promote the thoughts of Ajit Dada’

Rohit Pawar wrote on Twitter, “Today is the last day of campaigning for the elections of 12 district councils of the state. Time snatched away Ajit Dada from us while he was leaving to campaign for this election. We all know that due to this tragic incident, despite their plans, no member of the Pawar family could join the campaign of any candidate. Therefore, I appeal to the voters of all the twelve districts that this is the right time to remember Ajit Dada and support his ideology. And carrying forward Ajit Dada’s ideas is the true tribute to him!”

Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash on January 28.

Urge to support Ajit Pawar’s views

Rohit Pawar, representing Karjat-Jamkhed assembly constituency in Ahilyanagar district, urged voters in all the poll-bound districts to support Ajit Pawar’s ideas and termed it as ‘right time’ and a true tribute to the late leader.

Where will Zilla Parishad elections be held on 7th February?

The 12 district councils where voting will be held on February 7 are Raigarh, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Parbhani, Dharashiv and Latur. Voting will also be held for 125 Panchayat Samitis of these districts on the same day. 2,624 candidates are contesting for 731 seats in these 12 district councils, while 4,814 candidates are contesting for 1,462 seats in 125 panchayat samitis.

Counting of votes on 9th February

Counting of votes will take place on February 9 and the fate of all the candidates will be decided. Zilla Parishad is a local government body at the district level, which is responsible for rural administration, development, education and infrastructure. This is an important part of the Panchayati Raj system.
