Ranji Trophy Semifinalists: Jammu and Kashmir has created history by making it to the semi-finals of Ranji Trophy for the first time. Jammu and Kashmir achieved this historic feat by defeating Madhya Pradesh by 56 runs in the match played at Holkar Stadium. Fast bowler Aaqib Nabi performed historically and took a total of 12 wickets in the match. The performance of the Jammu and Kashmir team in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season has been incredible, they did not lose a single match in the league stage.
Aaqib Nabi was the hero of Jammu and Kashmir team in the victory against Madhya Pradesh. He bowled lethally and took 7 wickets in the first innings and also took 5 wickets in the second innings. Let us tell you that in the IPL 2026 auction, Aaqib Nabi was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 8.4 crore. This achievement of Jammu and Kashmir was also special because it has made it to the semi-finals of Ranji Trophy by defeating the champion team of the 2021-22 season.
Jammu and Kashmir team had failed to score big in both the innings. In the first innings, thanks to Shubham Khajuria’s half-century and Yudhveer Singh’s 41 runs, the team managed to score 194 runs. Aaqib Nabi bowled brilliantly and took 7 wickets and gave his team a significant lead of 42 runs by restricting Madhya Pradesh’s first innings to 152 runs.
In the second innings, half of the Jammu and Kashmir team had returned to the pavilion by the score of 73. But thanks to Vanshraj Sharma’s unbeaten 54 runs and Abid Mushtaq’s 41 runs, Jammu and Kashmir reached the score of 248 and set a target of 291 runs in the fourth innings for Madhya Pradesh.
In the fourth innings, Saransh Jain played a half-century of 64 runs for Madhya Pradesh, while Himanshu Mantri (31) and Shubham Sharma (32) also contributed small innings, but this time also Aaqib Nabi destroyed the batting line-up of Madhya Pradesh by dismissing 5 batsmen.
