Countless Bollywood and South films have been released in theaters in 2025. Many films broke records at the box office and made huge collections. But in terms of creating a stir in the opening weekend collection, Bollywood films dominated and South films lagged behind. Among the 5 films which made the highest collection on the first weekend of release, 4 are from Bollywood and only 1 from South.

- Artists like Rashmika Mandanna, Akshay Khanna, Ashutosh Rana and Divya Dutta were seen in the film.
- ‘Chhaava’, directed by Laxman Utekar, has proved to be the biggest film to be released in 2025.
- According to the report of Bollywood Hungama, the film had earned Rs 121.43 crore on the first weekend.
war 2
- Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s film ‘War 2’ is the second highest grossing film on the opening weekend.
- This action-thriller film has been directed by Ayan Mukherjee. Kiara Advani is also in the film.
- ‘War 2’ collected Rs 130 crore on the first weekend.
Sayara
- Mohit Suri’s musical romantic film Syara is included in the list of top weekend openers of 2025.
- Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Paddi were in the lead roles in this film, released on 18 July 2025.
- Syara did a business of Rs 84.50 crore on the opening weekend.
housefull 5
- Akshay Kumar starrer comedy film ‘Housefull 5’ hit the theaters on 6 June 2025.
- Made under the direction of Tarun Mansukhani, this film also featured Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan and Fardeen Khan.
- ‘Housefull 5’ did a business of Rs 81.85 crore at the box office on the first weekend.
Kantara- Chapter 1
- ‘Kantara – Chapter 1’ is the only South film in the list of highest grossing films on the first weekend.
- Rishabh Shetty starrer this film is a prequel to Kantara which is released on 2 October 2025.
- ‘Kantara – Chapter 1’ had collected Rs 75 crore on the opening weekend.
