Sunny Deol’s ‘Border 2’ has proved to be brilliant at the box office and has also become the first Bollywood hit of 2026. It has been two weeks since this war drama film was released in theaters and now it has entered its third week. Talking about the film’s earnings, in the last two weeks it has done wonders by collecting a net collection of more than Rs 400 crore worldwide and around Rs 300 crore in India. It has become a blockbuster film in every respect. But has it been more profitable than Gadar 2 and Uri? Let us know in this report.
How was the box office performance of ‘Border 2’?
‘Border 2’ directed by Anurag Singh was released in theaters on January 23, before Republic Day. This film had a great opening and took full advantage of the Republic Day weekend.
- Talking about earnings, ‘Border 2’ had earned Rs 224 crore nett in India in the first week.
- The special thing is that the collection of Rs 59 crore on January 26 was its highest single day collection.
- In the second week it added another Rs 71 crore.
- By the end of its 15th day in theatres, the film had earned Rs 297 crore nett (Rs 357 crore gross) at the domestic box office.
- It is expected that the film will add ₹15-20 crore more to its collection in India, but it will not be able to earn more than this.
- At the global box, ‘Border 2’ slowed down after a strong opening weekend. The film is expected to end its run with around $6 million gross overseas.
- As of Saturday, February 6, Border 2 has earned Rs 407 crore gross worldwide. The film should end its journey at around Rs 430-440 crore worldwide.
- Considering its budget of Rs 275 crore, this is an impressive figure, but not a bumper one.
Border 2 vs Uri and Gadar 2
Border 2 has become the highest-grossing war drama in Indian film history, surpassing Fighter’s collection of Rs 344 crore and Uri’s collection of Rs 342 crore. Let us tell you that Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer Fighter was an expensive film, which means that Border 2 not only earned more than that but also made more profit. However, Vicky Kaushal and Aditya Dhar’s Uri was made with a budget of less than Rs 50 crore. In such a situation, even though Border 2 earned more, Uri was more profitable.
If we compare Border 2 with Sunny Deol’s blockbuster Gadar 2, it had a similar start at the box office, but Anurag Singh’s war drama did not have the longevity like Gadar 2. Anil Sharma’s film earned Rs 691 crore worldwide at a budget of less than Rs 100 crore. This made it one of the most profitable Indian films of recent times.
