World Braille Day is celebrated every year on 4 January. This day is an opportunity to pay tribute to Louis Braille, the inventor of Braille script, who provided the medium of reading and writing by touch for the blind. Many films in Bollywood have shown the lives of blind characters in depth. To bring these roles alive, many actors learned Braille script and understood the world of the blind. Naseeruddin Shah
In the film ‘Sparsh’ released in 1980, Naseeruddin Shah played the role of a blind school principal Anirudh. In the film, he was seen romancing with Shabana Azmi. Anirudh is a self-respecting and strong person, who turns his weakness into strength. ‘Sparsh’ tells the story of a widow and a disabled person. Naseeruddin’s subtle acting won him the National Award. This film shows the feelings of the blind in a delicate manner.
