Russian President Vladimir Putin can also be planned to go. However, official information has not been received about this yet. Brazil has invited Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi for special dinner. It is being said that China has got chilly due to this.
According to a report, Jinping BRICS has planned not to attend the summit. If this happens, this will be the first time in more than a decade when he will not participate in this meeting. Hong Kong -based ‘South China Morning Post’ said in its news on Wednesday that instead, Chinese Prime Minister and Xi’s confidant Lee will attend Lee Qing Summit. It is reported that Brazil has sent an invitation to Prime Minister Modi for the state dinner.
Putin will not go to Brazil
Yuri Ushakov, the foreign policy advisor of Kremlin in Moscow, announced on Wednesday, “Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavarov will represent Russia at the upcoming BRICS summit in Brazil, while Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the event through video link.”
Brazil will host BRICS
As the current president of BRICS, Brazil is hosting his regular 17th summit at Rio de Janeiro on 6-7 July. BRICS includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The group has been expanded with five additional member countries Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Putin did not attend the BRICS summit in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2023 due to the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) at Ukraine’s request.
