MLA Munna Shukla, who is serving life imprisonment in the murder case of Brij Bihari Prasad, who was a minister during Rabri Devi’s regime in Bihar, has been transferred from Bhagalpur jail. On Friday, January 2, 2026, the jail administration shifted Munna Shukla from Bhagalpur to Patna Beur jail.
According to Beur Jail Superintendent, he had to undergo cataract operation at IGIMS, Patna, for this he was brought to Patna and on Saturday, January 3, he was sent to IGIMS for eye treatment. There he will be kept under the supervision of a doctor and the operation will continue for the next few days on the advice of the doctor. After which Munna Shukla will be sent back to Bhagalpur jail.
High Court sentenced Munna Shukla to life imprisonment
Let us tell you that Brij Bihari Prasad, who was a minister during Rabri Devi’s regime, was murdered in 1998. He was gunned down by criminals in the same IGIMS campus. Patna High Court sentenced Munna Shukla in that murder case, for which he is serving his sentence in Bhagalpur jail.
Munna Shukla has been a former MLA and had also contested the elections from Vaishali Lok Sabha in 2024 on RJD ticket, but LJP’s Veena Devi defeated him by about 89 thousand votes. A few months after the elections, Patna High Court convicted Munna Shukla in the Brij Bihari murder case and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
Many names including UP’s Prakash Shukla included in the murder case
In that murder case, the names of notorious Prakash Shukla, Munna Shukla, Mantu Tiwari and Rajan Tiwari etc. of Uttar Pradesh had come up. After which the High Court had sentenced Munna Shukla to life imprisonment in the murder case of Brij Bihari Prasad.
In this case, he was lodged in Beur jail, but due to security reasons, he was transferred to Bhagalpur jail before the assembly elections. Munna Shukla has been transferred from Bhagalpur jail to Beur jail for treatment after eye problem. At present, the doctors of IGIMS are keeping an eye on his health.
