The issue of daily attacks and killings on Hindus in Bangladesh has been raised in the British Parliament. A British MP raised this issue and appealed to the government to talk to the Mohammad Yunus government of Bangladesh so that violence against Hindus can be stopped and their safety is ensured.
Britain’s opposition MP and senior Conservative Party leader Bob Blackman has appealed to the government to put pressure on Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus to ensure the safety of minorities and fair elections.
Bob Blackman said that elections are to be held in Bangladesh on February 12 and these elections are being held at a time when former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s party Awami League has been banned, due to which democratic concerns remain. He also emphasized that Islamic extremists have become active again under the Yunus government.
Today, I raised my concerns on Bangladesh.
With elections looming, the Awami League is still banned.
I am also horrified to see that Hindu’s are murdered and their temples burnt.
I called on the Govt to act to protect minorities and ensure free and fair elections. pic.twitter.com/DTTCCgcN2S

Bob Blackman said in a post on social media platform X on Thursday (January 15, 2026), ‘I raised my concerns about Bangladesh in Parliament. Elections are near, still there are restrictions on Awami League. I am also shocked to see that Hindus are being killed, temples are being burnt. Similar incidents are happening with other minority communities. I call upon the government to ensure the safety of minorities, their freedom and fair elections.
He said that Awami League is the biggest political party in the country, yet it has been banned from elections, even though it has got 30 percent votes in opinion polls. On the other hand, Islamic extremists are demanding a referendum, which will change the Constitution of Bangladesh forever.
Bob Blackman has demanded that the Foreign Secretary issue a statement explaining what steps the country’s Labor government is taking to ensure the safety of Bangladeshi minorities, their freedom and fair elections.
