Bsnl vowifi: Government telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has given a big gift for its users. Now the customers of the company will be able to make voice calls without mobile network. BSNL has launched its new VOIFI (Voice Over Wi-Fi) service so that users will be able to call through Wi-Fi connections instead of mobile networks. With this move, BSNL has now come to equal to private companies like Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-D, which are already providing this facility.

BSNL’s network expansion

BSNL has recently expanded its 4G service by installing more than 1 lakh mobile towers across the country. The company is planning to set up about 97,500 more towers in the coming time. Meanwhile, the start of Vowifi service is considered to be another major achievement on the occasion of completion of 25 years of BSNL.

The soft launch of this service was done on 2 October by Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications (DOT). Currently, this service has been started in South and West Circle but soon it will be made available across the country. Also, BSNL has recently started 4G and ESIM service in Mumbai which was earlier launched in Tamil Nadu.

How will BSNL’s Vowifi service work?

This service will be especially beneficial for areas where the mobile network is weak. Users will be able to make clear and stable calls without any interruption through their home-Fi or broadband connection. However, for this, the user must have a smartphone that supports Vowifi. Nowadays, in most new Android and iPhone models, this option is already present in settings.

Free facility for all BSNL customers

BSNL has confirmed that this new Vowifi service will be completely free. Users will not have to pay any additional fee to call. The company informed through its official X (East Twitter) account that this service will provide better connectivity and uninterrupted calling experience to the customers, that too without any additional expenditure.

BSNL will compete with private companies

This step of BSNL now makes it stand in direct competition of big telecom players like Jio, Airtel and VI. Earlier, where these private companies used to provide Wi-Fi calling facility, now BSNL has also joined the same line. This initiative can prove to be an important step for BSNL to strengthen its hold in the Indian telecom market and modernize the network.
