Budget 2026 Crypto Expectations: In the recent past, there has been a surge in interest among Indian investors in cryptocurrencies and other Virtual Digital Assets (VDA). However, it is not easy to invest in this sector due to heavy tax burden. Many investors are confused due to the current system.
Also, now only one day is left for the presentation of Budget 2026. In such a situation, the expectations of people associated with the crypto industry, tax experts and investors have increased again. Everyone’s eyes are on whether the government will take any major decision regarding taxes and rules or will the existing system be continued. In such a situation, crypto investors have many expectations from this budget. Let us know about this…..
Investors’ expectations from Budget 2026
Income from virtual digital assets attracts a direct tax rate of 30 percent. In which no discount of any kind is available except the purchase cost. Besides, 1 percent TDS is also deducted on every transaction. Due to which the government gets complete record of investment activities. However, due to these strict rules, there is additional burden on investors.
Due to continuous deduction of TDS, many times the amount used for trading gets stuck. Due to which small investors face more problems. For this reason many people have started turning towards foreign exchanges or informal platforms. Where the rules are simpler than here.
This is also affecting the domestic crypto market of the country. In such a situation, investors are now expecting changes and relief in this tax system.
Direction of crypto tax changed from Budget 2022
The central government started paying attention to digital assets a few years ago. The increase in transactions was considered to be the main reason for this. In the Union Budget 2022, the Finance Minister had said that the scope and business of crypto and other digital assets has increased so much that it has become necessary to create a separate tax system for it.
This made it clear that the government is now considering these assets as part of the formal financial system. Also, the government wants to bring them under the tax net.
