Central government on budget session dates
The Central Government has made it clear that this time also the Union Budget 2026 will be presented on February 1 as per the schedule. Since it is Sunday, no changes have been made in it. The ongoing speculations regarding the date have now come to a complete end. Important dates related to the budget session have been approved in the recently held meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs.
According to the proposal of the Central Government, the President’s address will be held on January 28. The Economic Survey will be presented in Parliament on January 29. After this, on Sunday, February 1, the Finance Minister will present the Union Budget 2026 in Parliament.
Finance Minister’s 9th budget and record
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman can present her ninth budget on this occasion. Till now, the then Finance Minister Sitharaman has presented 2 interim and 6 full budgets. This time, Sitharaman will leave behind Pranab Mukherjee’s record of presenting the budget and equal P. Chidambaram’s record of presenting the budget 9 times. This will be the first time in the last few years that the budget will be presented on a Sunday.
