Nine passengers were killed and 30 others were injured when a bus fell into a ditch near Balkasar Interchange on Sunday (July 27, 2025) in Chakwal district of Punjab province of Pakistan.
According to a spokesperson of Chakwal Rescue 1122, the bus was going from Islamabad towards Lahore, when a bus tire burst near Balkasar Interchange on Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M2). The driver lost control of the bus due to the bus tire burst and the bus fell into the ditch and overturned.

Dr. Saeed Akhtar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chakwal District Health Authority (DHA), issued a statement regarding this bus accident. Dr. Akhtar confirmed that 9 people have died and 30 people have been injured in this accident. 4 children are also among those who died. ,
At the same time, Deputy Commissioner of Chakwal Sarah Hayat and Assistant Commissioner Zeeshan Sharif reached the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) and came to know about their well being from the injured. DC Hayat was given complete information about this accident and he has instructed the officials to provide all possible medical facilities for the treatment of the injured.
Eight passengers died on the spot
At the same time, according to the earlier statement issued by the local police, eight passengers died on the spot in this bus accident, while a woman died in the hospital. The driver of the bus is also included in the dead.
It is noteworthy that after the bus overturned near Balkasar Interchange, the personnel of rescue 1122 and other emergency agencies immediately reached the spot. Rescue 1122 sent six relief and rescue vehicles to the spot. Also, the National Highway and Motorway Police, Chakwal Police and Frontier Works Organization (FWO) teams also reached the spot immediately. At the same time, according to the statement of Rescue 1122, there were more than 40 passengers in the bus.

At the same time, Pakistan’s news channel Don quoted Dr. Mukhtar Sarwar Niazi, Medical Superintendent of DHQ Hospital, said that the condition of four of the 12 injured here is very critical and he is being referred to Rawalpindi.
