Rabies is a very serious and fatal disease. If anti-rabies vaccine is not given on time after being bitten by a rabies infected animal, then it becomes impossible to survive this disease. Generally people know that rabies is spread by the bite of a dog or other animal. But many people also have this question in their mind whether eating dog dung or drinking milk can also cause rabies. In such a situation, let us tell you today what can happen by eating dog’s shoes and how this dangerous disease spreads.
How is rabies spread?
Experts say that rabies virus is mainly found in the saliva of infected animals. This virus enters the human body when an infected dog or animal bites and its saliva comes in contact with the open wound or cut. This is why the most common cause of rabies is considered to be animal bite. According to the doctor, it is necessary to get anti-rabies vaccine within 24 hours of the animal bite. After this, a complete course of vaccination has to be done as per the doctor’s advice, due to which the virus gets eliminated before it spreads in the body.
Can rabies be caused by eating dog’s shoes?
This question arises in the minds of many people about getting rabies from eating dog’s tusks. Regarding this, experts say that if a person drinks the raw milk of a dog, then no scientifically proven case of spread of rabies has been reported till now, although it is necessary that the milk should be boiled. If the milk has boiled at a temperature more than 50 degrees Celsius, then there is no need to worry. But if someone drinks raw milk then doctor’s advice is necessary. Many cases have also come to light in the past regarding eating dog dung. In fact, some time ago, children in a school in Chhattisgarh were fed dog food, after which the High Court gave a compensation of Rs 25,000 to each child. Along with this, it was also ensured that all the children were given complete anti-rabies vaccine.
What do experts say?
Experts say that the rabies virus does not survive for long in the external environment and gets destroyed quickly. Till date, no such case has been reported in which this virus has caused rabies by entering the human stomach. However, if a person has drunk raw milk and has blisters or wounds in his mouth, then there may be a risk of infection. There is no risk of rabies from drinking boiled milk. If the behavior of the dog that swallows milk is not normal or the milk is consumed without boiling, then in such a situation a doctor should be contacted immediately. The doctor decides after examination whether to get vaccinated or not.
