Indian captain KL Rahul praised his bowlers after defeating South Africa in the first ODI here on Sunday, saying they stuck to their plan.
Rahul said in the felicitation ceremony after the match, “It would be a lie if I say that we were not nervous at the end. We were playing ODI cricket after a long time. But we kept taking wickets continuously and our bowlers stuck to their plans and bowled. ,
After the 52nd ODI century of star batsman Virat Kohli (135 runs), thanks to the blows of fast bowler Harshit Rana (three wickets) and wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav (four wickets), India defeated South Africa by 17 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Kohli took the team to a big score by making a partnership of 136 runs with Rohit Sharma (57 runs in 51 balls) for the second wicket.
Rahul said, “It is always great to see Rohit and Kohli playing like this. He put the opposition team under pressure and showed why he is such a great player. I have been watching this thing for a long time, it is even more fun to be with him in the dressing room. ,
He also praised Harshit and Kuldeep. He said, “Harshit has performed very well and we know his capability. Kuldeep is doing a good job and is important for us to take wickets. ,
Kohli, who was the ‘Man of the Match’, said, “It was great to watch such a match. Played fast for 20-25 overs. I wanted to enjoy the game. When you get a good start, your experience comes in handy so that you take the innings forward. I don’t believe in over-preparation. All my cricket has been mental. I work hard physically. ,
South African captain Aiden Markram said, “We were all hopeful of victory from within.” The early dismissal of the top order was the decisive moment of the match. Top order wickets fell quickly. There are some small things in which we have to do a little better. ,
