India A Team ODIs Captain Change: The test series is going on between the A teams of India and South Africa. After this, a three-match ODI series will also be played between the two teams. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India’s A team for the ODI series. Before the announcement of the team, there was speculation about the name of the new captain. The captain of India’s ODI team is Shubman Gill. Shreyas Iyer was made the captain of India’s A team in the series against Australia, but now Tilak Verma has been given the command of the team against South Africa A.
BCCI changed ODI captain?
Tilak Verma has been made the captain of India’s A team for the ODI series against South Africa. Earlier, in the match against Australia, Shreyas Iyer was in command of India’s A team. But on the Australia tour, Iyer got injured during the third ODI match in Sydney, due to which he was admitted to Sydney hospital. Shreyas is out of danger, but is currently recovering from the injury. Iyer will be able to return to the team only after becoming completely fit.
Why didn’t Shubman Gill become the captain?
Shubman Gill has the command of India’s senior team in ODIs. Currently Gill is playing a five-match T20 series on Australia tour. After this, after returning to India, he will also play a Test series with the senior South African team, whose captain is Shubman Gill himself. In such a situation, Gill cannot play the ODI series against South Africa’s A team.
