A major road accident has occurred in Beed district of Maharashtra. There was chaos on the Solapur-Dhule National Highway near Pali village in Beed taluka when a vehicle collided with a diesel tanker. The collision was so strong that within no time both the vehicles caught fire and a ball of fire was formed on the highway.
Huge fire broke out after the collision
According to eyewitnesses, fire broke out immediately after the collision. Within a few minutes the fire became so severe that both the vehicles were seen completely burnt. Due to the presence of diesel and petroleum products, the fire spread rapidly, creating an atmosphere of panic in the surrounding area. Other vehicles running on the highway also stopped immediately and people were seen running away to save their lives.
According to the information, the accident tanker was carrying diesel via Solapur-Dhule Highway. For this reason the fire took a horrific form after the collision. The flames were visible from a distance and a plume of black smoke spread into the sky.
Fire brigade and police reached the spot
As soon as information about this incident was received, fire brigade vehicles were sent to the spot. Fire fighters started trying to control the fire. At the same time, the police also immediately reached the spot and cordoned off the entire area and secured it. For safety reasons, traffic on the highway was stopped for some time, so that no other major accident occurs.
The fire department is continuously making efforts to control the fire. Due to it being diesel, it took a lot of effort to extinguish the fire. Officials say that the situation is being monitored and as soon as the fire is completely extinguished, traffic will be gradually restored.
At present the reasons for the accident are being investigated. Initially, high speed and carelessness are being considered as the reasons for the accident. Police are also investigating whether the safety standards of the tanker were followed or not.
