Why is screw stuck on appointment?

The new director is to be appointed before the term of Praveen Sood is over. Due to this, a meeting was called in the PMO on Monday. According to the instructions of the Supreme Court given in 2019, such senior officers, who have less than six months left in retirement, cannot be considered for the post of CBI Director. The Supreme Court had said that the tenure of the CBI director cannot be less than 2 years. With this, they can be transferred only with the consent of the Appointments Committee.
