The 10th and 12th board examinations of Central Board of Secondary Education i.e. CBSE are starting from 17 February 2026. This year, more than 46 lakh students will appear in the examination including centers in India and abroad. The board has also issued detailed guidelines regarding exam date, reporting time, dress code and prohibited items. Exam Timings and Entry Rules

According to CBSE, the examination will start at 10:30 am, but it is mandatory for all students to reach the examination center by 10:00 am. No students will be allowed entry after 10:00 am. Keeping in view the traffic and other possible problems, the board has advised the students to reach the center at least 45 to 90 minutes before. It is also recommended to visit the center before the examination. Apart from this, the class 10th exams will continue till March 11, while the class 12th exams will end on April 10, 2026. The board has instructed that students should prepare for their exams as per the official date sheet and should not rely on any fake information.

Dress code-what to wear and what not to wear?

The board has made it clear that regular students will have to come to the examination center in school uniform only. It is important to bring school ID card with you. Apart from this, private candidates have been advised to wear light colored plain clothes. You should avoid wearing clothes with heavy embroidery, many pockets, big buttons or metal attachments.

  • The board has advised girls not to wear any kind of jewelery like earrings, chain, bracelet and ring etc.
  • At the same time, there is no point in avoiding metal hair accessories.
  • Apart from this, the board has advised girls to avoid high heels and wear flat sandals or normal slippers.

  • The board has given instructions for the boys to come wearing half sleeve shirts or normal shirts. These instructions are for private students.
  • Apart from this, all the boys have been advised not to wear cargo pants, clothes with too much zip or pockets.
  • Boys have also been advised not to wear heavy soled shoes and wear normal shoes or slippers.

What can be taken to the examination hall?

According to the board, students can take hard copy of admit card and valid ID card to the examination hall. Apart from this, you can take with you blue or royal blue pen-pencil, rubber, sharpener, stationery in transparent pouch, transparent water bottle and only analog watch. Apart from this, according to the board, geometry tools should also be transparent.

Which goods are completely banned?

The board has instructed the students that it is strictly prohibited to carry mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, earphones, purses, wallets and any kind of written material to the examination centre. Violating the rules can lead to action under unfair means, which can also lead to cancellation of the exam.
