Since the year 2026, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is going to make a big change, which is going to provide relief to millions of students. The board will now conduct class 10th examinations twice a year. This change has been brought under the New Education Policy (NEP), which aims to reduce the pressure of examinations on the students and give them a second chance to perform better.

When and how will the exam twice?

CBSE has made it clear that the board examination of class 10th will now be taken in two phases. The first exam will be held in February and the second exam will be held in May. This will be exactly the same as some competitive exams are twice.

However, some rules have been set for both these examinations. It will be necessary to appear in the first phase examination, while the second examination will be optional. That is, if the student is not able to score good marks in the first phase, then he can sit again in the examination to be held in May.

How many subjects will you get a chance?

According to the new guideline of CBSE, you can get the option of re -examination in all the main subjects. It includes topics like Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English and Hindi. However, students will be able to take the exam again in the same subjects in which they want to improve.

This will provide the facility to the students to work hard on their weak subjects and get better marks. This facility will be beneficial for students who are unable to perform well in the first examination for some reason.

Internal assessment and board number

CBSE has also made it clear that internal assessment will be only once. This means that students will not have to give practical and internal assignments again. Only the opportunity to improve the theory paper of the board examination will be available.

Students will get a chance to improve

CBSE Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj said that this decision has been taken for the convenience of the students. This will not only help the students to reduce stress, but will also give them a chance to improve their marks.
