Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the complete exam schedule of CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test – CTET) for February 2026. This exam is very important for all those candidates who are preparing to become teachers from class 1 to 8 in India. Passing CTET is necessary to become a teacher in government and many private schools.

This time CBSE has made some important changes in the conduct of the examination. Earlier CTET was to be conducted in a single day, but due to the increase in the number of candidates registering, the board has decided that now this examination will be conducted in two days. This will not only make management at the examination centers easier, but candidates will also have to face less trouble in taking the examination.
New dates and shifts of CTET 2026

CBSE has said in the official notice that the 21st edition of CTET will now be conducted on 7 and 8 February 2026. Earlier this exam was to be held only on 8th February. The board has made it clear that conducting the examination in two days will improve the management and security as well as the convenience of the candidates.

The examination will be conducted in two shifts each on both the days, and both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be conducted every day. The examination will be conducted in about 140 cities across the country. Candidates have been advised to read the information given on their admit card carefully and not pay attention to any rumour.

CTET 2026 time table

The schedule of CTET 2026 has been made in such a way that the exam will be conducted over two days, i.e. on 7th and 8th February 2026. The timing of the paper is 2 hours 30 minutes. This means that candidates will appear for Paper 2 in the morning and Paper 1 in the afternoon on both the days, making both exam timing and management easier and candidates can plan their preparation and time table accordingly.

It is important to reach the examination center on time

CBSE has given clear instructions to the candidates to reach the examination center at least an hour before. No candidate will be given entry after the commencement of the examination.
