There is good news for the youth who are dreaming of becoming teachers. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the date of Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET 2026). Candidates who want to appear in this examination will soon be able to apply by visiting CBSE website ctet.nic.in. This examination is the most important examination to determine eligibility for teacher recruitment in the entire country.
According to the notification of CBSE, CTET 2026 exam will be conducted on 8 February 2026 (Saturday). The examination will be conducted in 132 cities across the country. This time CBSE is conducting the 21st edition of CTET, which will include both Paper-1 and Paper-2. The examination will be held in 20 languages so that candidates from different states can appear in it.
CBSE will soon release detailed information related to the exam like syllabus, eligibility criteria, exam fee, language options and list of exam centers on its website. Therefore, candidates are advised to keep visiting the website from time to time.
Eligibility to apply
CTET exam is conducted at two levels — Paper-1 (Primary Teacher) and Paper-2 (Upper Primary Teacher). Those candidates who have completed or are in the final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) can apply for Paper-1. At the same time, some B.Ed holder candidates are also eligible as per the rules set by CBSE. For Paper-2, the candidate should have two-year B.Ed., or four-year integrated B.Ed./B.Sc. B.Ed./BA B.Ed.

Although CBSE has not announced the fee this time, but like previous years, it is estimated that the fee for one paper for General and OBC candidates will be around Rs 1000 and Rs 1200 for both the papers. At the same time, for SC, ST and disabled candidates this fee can be half i.e. around Rs 500 to Rs 600.

First of all go to ctet.nic.in website and click on “CTET February 2026 Registration” link on the homepage. After this, fill the required information like name, email ID, phone number and educational qualification. Upload photo and signature, then submit the examination fee online. Check all the information once before submitting the form. Finally, take a print out of the application form and keep it safe, so that you do not have to face any problem in future.
