The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a detailed notice regarding practical examinations, projects and internal assessment for classes 10 and 12 for the academic session 2025-26. This notice will be applicable to all the schools associated with the board. The Board has described this as an extension of the previous instructions issued, so that the examination conduct and evaluation is completely transparent and systematic.

CBSE has made it clear that the practical examinations will be conducted from January 1, 2026 to January 14, 2026. For this, the board has given many important instructions to the schools, so that the students do not face any inconvenience or technical problem and all the examinations are completed properly.

What should schools do before practical exams

The board has instructed the schools to ensure all arrangements in advance. Schools will have to see that sufficient number of practical answer sheets are available before the examination. If there is any problem with any material or equipment, the concerned regional office should be immediately informed. Students and their parents should be given clear information about the practical examination schedule and all the instructions of CBSE.

Infrastructure and Laboratories

CBSE has also said that schools should ensure that laboratories are complete with all necessary equipment, materials and infrastructure. Adequate space and facilities should be available for students to experiment. The external examiners appointed under the Board should be contacted in time to conduct the examination. Only CBSE appointed external examiners can conduct practical examinations. Any examination conducted by any unauthorized examiner will be considered invalid.

Provision for children with special needs

CBSE has directed to make easy and convenient arrangements for children with special needs (CWSN), so that they can also participate fully in practical examinations, projects and internal assessments. Students will appear in the practical examination as per the school schedule. Marks will have to be uploaded on the day of evaluation only. Numbers once uploaded cannot be changed later. CBSE has warned schools to be careful while uploading marks. If wrong numbers are uploaded, the results cannot be corrected later

Rules regarding numbering

Marks will be given only as per the CBSE numbering scheme. Marks should be based on the performance of the student, no arbitrary marks will be given. The Principal and examiner will ensure that no maximum marks are awarded unfairly. There will be an undertaking in the practical answer sheets of the 2026 examination, in which it will be written that given. The maximum number has been checked and numbers have been given following all the rules. CBSE has made it clear that students participating in national or international sports will not be given any relaxation in practical, project or internal assessment. No separate examination will be conducted for them.

Practical examination will be conducted from January 1 to January 14, 2026. Schools will have to regularly inform the vice principal or coordinators about the status of the examination. In case of any doubt or problem, the concerned regional office will have to be contacted.

Last reminder from CBSE

CBSE has warned that if any school does not follow the instructions of the board, it reserves the right to cancel the practical examinations conducted in the school. The board has asked schools to maintain academic integrity and ensure a fair, transparent and smooth examination process for all students.
