Cabinet meeting briefing: Several important and historic decisions were taken on Wednesday (April 09, 2025) at the Union Cabinet meeting. Giving information about these decisions, Union Information Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the cabinet has approved the railway line project as well as the bypass project. Apart from this, the Prime Minister has also approved the sub-scheme of Agricultural Irrigation Scheme (PMKSY).
The Union Cabinet has approved the doubling of the Tirupati-Pakla-Katpadi single railway line. Total 104 km The route will be doubled. The cabinet has sanctioned Rs 1332 crore for this project. There are many industrial businesses and many important religious places in this area. With this, with the increase in connectivity to Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh, other major sites like Shri Kalahasti Shiva Temple, Kanipakam Vinayak Temple, Chandragiri Fort etc. will also be able to get railway connectivity.
All scheme of PM Agricultural Irrigation Scheme also approved
Sub-scheme of PM Irrigation Scheme from Modi cabinet has also been approved. With this scheme, water can be supplied for irrigation from existing canals or other sources of water in a cluster. In this, there will be a supply water supply through the undergruater pipeline from the water source to one hectare. This will create a strong infrastructure for micro arrigation.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that this scheme has been approved for the pilot project in different parts of the country. Based on the results from this, the scheme will be started in the entire country from 1 April 2026. The Pradhan Mantri Agricultural Irrigation Scheme for FY 2025-2026 has been approved as a sub-scheme of Rs 1600 crore with an initial expenditure of Rs 1600 crore.
Zirakpur bypass also approved
Along with this, the cabinet has also approved the Zirakpur bypass. This decision is considered very important for Haryana-Punjab. The construction of a 6 -lane entry controlled Zirakpur bypass has been approved in Punjab and Haryana at a cost of Rs 1878.31 crore in Punjab and Haryana at a cost of Rs 19.2 km. Zirakpur will be made satellite city.
