The Central Government has sent a strict notice to the social media platform ‘X’, in which instructions have been given to remove obscene content from Grok AI. Along with this, the government has also asked the company to send the report within 72 hours.
In fact, for the last few days, the misuse of social media platform X’s generative AI chatbot Grok was increasing, in which users were using it for obscene content. The Central Government’s concern increased over this growing trend and now India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (IT Ministry) has taken strict action and ordered X to immediately review its Grok AI technology.
Submit report to government within 72 hours
Along with this, the government has directed that whatever action will be taken or reviewed in this matter, its report should be given to the central government within 72 hours.
Why did the government take this decision?
Actually, by posting photos, X users used to instruct the bot to remove a woman’s dress and show her in a more provocative form. At times, Grok has provided output such as editing of women’s photos without permission, resulting in obscenely modified images, which is against the platform’s own policies and the laws of India.
Therefore, the government has now taken action against the ongoing trend against women. If the platform does not ensure this, it may have to face legal action.
The government had sent the notice in the last weeks of the year 2025
In the last weeks of the year 2025, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) had issued a new advisory, in which social media platforms were directed to ‘more strictly comply’ with their obligations to remove obscene, adult or illegal content. If this is not done, the platforms may have to face strict action.
