Gautam Gambhir has a contract with BCCI till 2027 World Cup. But there is news that this can be considered. A lot will depend on India’s performance in the T20 World Cup 2026.
It has been said in the report that there is currently a discussion in the BCCI that at present Gambhir is the right person to remain the coach of the Test team. Right now, no decision is being taken on whether someone else should be made the coach in the next 9 matches of the World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle or Gambhir should be allowed to continue in this post.

India will not play red ball cricket till August. Team India will tour Sri Lanka in August, where there will be a 2-match Test series. After this, India will tour New Zealand for a 2-Test series in October-November. In the beginning of 2027, Australia team will come to India for a 5-match test series.
