In order to streamline the movement of trains at New Delhi Railway Station and to increase the convenience of passengers, there has been a change in the parking fee of drop-off lane. The parking system at the station with increased rates has come into effect from Friday (26 December 2025). Railways says that the purpose of this step is to reduce unnecessary crowd in the pick-up and drop-off zones and to make it easier for the passengers staying for a limited time.
Under the new system, separate rates have been set for private and commercial vehicles, so as to ensure balanced and equitable use of the station premises.
How much will be charged for first 0-8 minutes for private vehicles?
Please note that for private vehicles, there will be no charge for drop-off in the parking lot of the station for the first 0 to 8 minutes. Whereas now under the new provision on commercial vehicles, to control the traffic flow, parking charge of Rs 30 will be taken from commercial vehicles for 0 to 8 minutes.
Reduction in parking charges from 15 to 30 minutes
Under the new provision, parking charges have been reduced from 15 to 30 minutes. Parking rates for this period have been reduced from Rs 200 to Rs 150, while giving a huge relief for 30 to 60 minutes, earlier a flat charge of Rs 500 was charged after 30 minutes, which has now been reduced to Rs 200.
Strictness on stay in parking area for more than 60 minutes
Along with this, by strictly restricting the stay of more than 60 minutes in the parking area of the station, parking of the vehicle in the drop-off lane for more than 60 minutes will not be allowed and in case of violation of this rule, the vehicle will be towed and a towing charge of Rs 300 will also be imposed. It is also important to mention that all these parking charges will be levied including GST.
