Another big update has come for medical students regarding the counseling of National Eligibility Entrance Test Post Graduate (NEET PG) 2025. Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) has extended the last date for choice filling of the first round. The reason for this is the information received from the National Medical Commission (NMC), in which it was told that after the start of counselling, the National Board of Examination (NBE) has withdrawn 169 PG DNB seats. Now students will have to wait for the next official announcement of MCC.
MCC informed that some extra seats have been removed from the counseling process and now the roster system is being re-implemented to ensure correct distribution of seats as per the reservation policy. Due to this, a revised seat matrix is being prepared, which will soon be uploaded on the official website of MCC, mcc.nic.in.
Accordingly, changes will be made in the state level PG counseling programs also. This means that the new distribution of MD, MS and DNB seats will be released in all the states and students can again get a chance to choose the college of their choice.
What changed in the seats?
According to the issued notice, there have been many important changes in the seat matrix of the first phase. In this amendment, 49 MD and MS seats, and 54 DNB seats have been withdrawn. However, it is a matter of relief that 6 new seats have been added from private hospitals. There were a total of 25,760 seats in the seat matrix released earlier, but now this number has decreased slightly.
Seats as per new distribution
- All India Quota (AIQ) – 12,678 seats
- Central Internal Quota – 804 seats
- Deemed University Category – 6,156 seats
- DNB category – 9,122 seats
What was fixed in the old schedule?
According to the old schedule, the seat allotment result of the first round was to be released on November 8, 2025. At the same time, students had to complete the process of reporting and joining in their allotted college between November 9 and November 14, 2025. But now there is a possibility of change in all these dates.
