Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena UBT leader Priyanka Chaturvedi has raised the issue of misuse of women’s pictures on social media and misuse of AI technology. He has written a letter to Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav demanding immediate intervention on the increasing incidents of sexualizing and undressing women through the AI feature Grok of X platform. This letter has been written after the cases of digital harassment that came to light in recent times.
Attack on dignity of women through AI Grok
Priyanka Chaturvedi said in the letter that a dangerous trend is emerging on social media, especially on X. In this, some men are creating fake accounts and posting pictures of women and giving such prompts to Grok to show less clothes and sexualize the pictures.
This abuse is not limited to fake accounts, but women who share their own photos are also being targeted. He called it a gross misuse of AI technology and said that it is completely unacceptable.
Have sought urgent attention and intervention of Hon. IT Minister to take up the issue of increasing incidents of AI apps being prompted to sexualise and undress women by unauthorized use of their images on social media. There have to be guardrails put in place by features such as… pic.twitter.com/pR5tKzDBwi

Violation of women’s privacy and law
In the letter, the MP clearly wrote that the most serious thing is that Grock is complying with such requests, due to which this behavior is increasing further. This is a direct violation of women’s Right to Privacy and misuse of their photographs. According to Priyanka Chaturvedi, this is not only unethical but also falls in the category of criminal act. She raised the question that if AI platforms fail to stop such prompts, then how will the digital safety of women be ensured.
Demand for strict steps from government and Big Tech
Priyanka Chaturvedi, as a member of the Standing Committee on IT and Communication, urged the Minister to take up this issue strongly with X and other big tech companies. He said that a limit is necessary in AI apps, so that the dignity of women is not violated and the platforms can become a safe space for women.
He also warned that the country cannot become a silent spectator of public and digital humiliation of women. At the end of the letter, he expressed hope that MeitY will give priority to this matter and send a clear message that AI is welcome, but any kind of derogatory and criminal act against women will not be tolerated.
