Once again the air in Delhi NCR has reached very bad levels. After the air quality index reached 400, the administration had to take the most stringent measures. In fact, in view of the pollution in the capital, Gradeau Response Action Plan i.e. GRAP-4 has been implemented again after 24 days. Along with this, strict restrictions have been imposed on the movement of vehicles, construction work and schools in the capital and NCR areas. In such a situation, if you are preparing to go towards Delhi, then it is very important to check some important things related to your car beforehand, otherwise you may have to pay a heavy fine. In such a situation, let us now tell you what things you should check in your car before going towards Delhi, otherwise heavy fine can be imposed.
Why was GRAP-4 implemented again in Delhi NCR?
According to the Commission for Air Quality Management, the average AQI of Delhi was recorded at 400 at 4 pm on Saturday, which increased to 428 at 8 pm. At the same time, there was a possibility of the situation worsening due to western disturbance, very slow wind speed and pollution. In view of this, an emergency meeting of CAQM was held and the decision to implement Grape-4 was taken. Earlier, restrictions of Group 1, 2 and 3 were already in force in Delhi NCR.
Entry of which vehicles banned in Delhi?
After the implementation of Grape-4, vehicles of standard less than BS-4 registered outside Delhi have been banned from entering the capital. Which means that if your car enters Delhi from Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram or any other NCR city and it does not meet the BS-4 norms, then you cannot take it to Delhi. However, vehicles running on CNG, electric and BS-4 standards have been exempted. There will also be a ban on entry of diesel trucks in Delhi during Grape-4. Only trucks carrying essential goods and essential services will be allowed to enter the capital. Apart from this, strict action will also be taken against diesel goods carriers of BS-4 or below.
Check these things in your car before going towards Delhi
Since Grape-4 is applicable in Delhi NCR, a little carelessness can cost you dearly. Therefore, if your car does not meet the prescribed emission standards or the required documents are not complete, then your challan may be issued as soon as you enter Delhi or the vehicle may be confiscated. In such a situation, if you are planning to go to Delhi, then first of all check the registration certificate of your vehicle and carry important documents like PUC certificate etc., because you can go only if the vehicle meets the BS-4 standard.
How much penalty if the rule is broken?
There is not only a warning for violation of Group 4, but there is also a provision for heavy fine and strict action. If vehicles of restricted category are caught, a challan of up to Rs 20 thousand can be issued. At the same time, a fine of up to Rs 10,000 can be imposed for driving without a Pollution Under Control Certificate.
