Subjects like Science and Maths are generally considered to be the most difficult subjects. These are considered more tough subjects especially because of their technical terminology. There has been a belief for a long time that if any subject is taught in the mother tongue then it is easier to understand. Taking this thinking forward, chemistry will now be taught in Maithili language also.
In fact, the Commission of Scientific and Technical Terminology of the Government of India in collaboration with Lalit Narayan Maithili University has prepared and published the basic terminology of chemistry in Maithili. This has been done under the first new education policy 2020, the objective of which is to provide education to the students in their mother tongue.
More than 3500 words were translated
Under this scheme, more than 3500 technical terms of chemistry have been translated into Maithili. After these words are available, it will be easy to prepare chemistry books up to class 12 in Maithili. It is believed that this will provide great relief to the students of Mithilanchal in understanding science subjects. Under the new education policy, emphasis has been laid on promoting studies in regional languages. This terminology is being considered an important step in this direction. Apart from this, the Education Ministry plans to make books of other subjects also available in Maithili.
12th class students will benefit
It is being told that school level students will directly benefit from this terminology. Especially students up to 12th will benefit more from it. Availability of technical terms will make both translation and reading of chemistry books easier. According to the report, in future the vocabulary of subjects like political science and journalism is being prepared in Maithili. Similarly, similar work is going on on other regional languages also. Let us tell you that a special expert committee has been constituted to prepare this terminology. Along with chemistry experts, experts in Hindi, Maithili and English languages were also included. Many academics and professors have also contributed to the committee. These include Dr. Prem Mohan Mishra, Dr. Awadhesh Kumar Mishra, Prof. Names like Devnarayan Jha, Dr. Ajay Kumar Mishra, Dr. Beena Thakur, Dr. Surendra Bhardwaj, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Jha, Dr. Savita Jha and Dr. Vagish Kumar Jha were included.
